More than half of American women are saying that they only get a good night’s sleep a couple of times a week. I have noticed this even in my own wife. After we are in bed, she will get up between 2 and 3 am and move to the couch. On goes the television, and there she stays till morning. I always ask her what’s going on and she says she can rest better in the living room with some light and sound on.
Her doctor told her that she isn’t the only one going through this. My wife has several friends that do the same thing. The reason for this is Stress. American women are undergoing a large amount of stress these days. Mothers as well as single women are experiencing this problem. Single professional women are under a lot of stress to perform above the average norm in their jobs. Mothers who stay home and take care of their children, are worried about many little things. Things that they have no control over. It is not unusual for a mother to lie down with a child during the night and sleep restlessly. They lay down with the child and are afraid to sleep soundly because their child may need them during the night.
My wife’s doctor says that women need to keep things in the right perspective and plan for sleep that their bodies need. Some women have to get some type of medication to help them relax and sleep better.
American women are struggling to cope with not enough sleep. Many, in an attempt to cope with this problem, are going to caffeinated beverages. Some are doing 3 to 4 cups of caffeinated drinks than what they usually do.
Sleep problems often occur with mood swings and disturbances. If not held in check, this can also lead to anxiety and depression. It is a problem that can grow in a short matter of time.
This is quite worrisome because we know what depression finally leads to but frequent mood swings can lead to deterioration in relations with your loved ones so get rid of sleep disorder and one way to do so is to lookup an interesting resurge review that gives an insight into tackling insomnia.
Interestingly, lifestyle can also play a major factor. A single lady who wants to spend late hours out on the town or on the job can build up sleep problems without even being aware of what they are doing. They wake up from their sleep and are still tired. This is because they didn’t get enough sleep to begin with.
Time changes and daylight shortness can add to this problem. If a working woman gets up early for a couple of days and goes to bed very late on those nights, they are cutting down on sleep time. This is referred to as a time change. Daylight hours also can affect mood swings. With less daylight time in the winter months, it can affect their mood for the day. The same can be said about longer daylight hours in the summer time. Each individual is different.
It is not unusual for both types of women to experience sleep problems. My wife’s doctor recommends that an individual woman get on a regular sleep schedule and stick to it. They need to plan ahead and stay on schedule with the proper amount of hours.
Women that think they can make up sleep time on a weekend are mistaken. Once you lose out on sleep, you can’t make it up. The brain won’t let you. That is why it is important to have a consistent routine.
Here are a few helpful hints for a good nights sleep. Make sure your bed is comfortable. Know what type of pillow works best for you. Keep doors and windows closed to keep out unwanted sounds. Do not drink caffeinated beverages before bed. Try to have a well controlled atmosphere of heat or cooling in your bedroom. If you have a noisy clock, switch to a silent one. Don’t let animals sleep with you. Their movement and sounds will keep you awake. Do not sleep with children. This is a tough one especially if you are a concerned parent. Set a time that is right for you to go to bed. Set a time for awaking in the morning. Stay consistent with the hours of sleep that you get each night. If you like late night television, tape it or record it to be watched the next day. Let others in your house know that you need rest. This way they will work to keep noise to a minimum. Keep in mind though that it is up to the individual to take the responsibility to get a good night’s sleep.
Lastly, consult your doctor. Be sure they know that you are having problems.
