Best trowel for a beginner?

Good evening to all. I am new to the forum but have been reading all of your posts and drooling over all the wonderful finishes everyone has created, for a few months now. I would love to try my hand at some of the beautiful finishes using products like Lusterstone or a metallic plaster. Would someone please suggest a good trowel or two for a beginner to start with (i.e. rigid or flexible, pointed or trapezoid, plastic or stainless). There are just so many different kinds it is very confusing. Thank you.

For the type of soft bodied, non to fine grit plasters you are talking about, I would recommend the Japanese (pointed tip) trowel. They are light weight and flexible. They are not good for super gritty plasters like Sandstone because those will ding the edge of the Japanede trowel. For those I recommend a Pavan which is heavier and more rigid. Both in stainless steel
